Ouseburn Cricket Club
Ouseburn CC's Story
Ouseburn Cricket Club was founded in the 1930's and having moved around several grounds in the Ouseburn area found a permanent home at Great Ouseburn playing field in 1963.
With the success and expansion of the club, we currently have three senior teams playing in the Nidderdale League. The 1st XI play in the top Division of the league, enjoying a very high standard of cricket. The aim of the club is to give people the opportunity to enjoy cricket and to develop their potential both as cricketers and as people. There is no better example of this than a junior playing in the 1st XI who has come through the junior teams and has played at junior county level. The 3rd Team was started in 2005 a with the express aim of bridging the gap between junior and adult cricket. As of 2022, the team now competes as the Development XI in the Development Division of the Nidderdale league. Immediate success followed this transition, the team winning the Division title in its first outing. The team is made up of some of the more experienced seniors alongside juniors from 12-17 years. In keeping with the family atmosphere of the club, several Father-and-Son pairings have competed together in this XI.
The Cricket Club has recently invested in establishing a team of level 1 & 2 qualified ECB cricket coaches. Leading up to and throughout these coaches provide U7-18 year olds with high quality coaching based on skills and techniques appropriate for developing cricket at each age group.
The provision of this level of coaching allows youngsters to participate in a sport which supports their development and where they can learn about the ethos of the game, sportsmanship and leadership. A number of these youngsters who have progressed through the junior teams have played cricket at junior county standard.
The cricket pitches on the playing fields at Great Ouseburn are recognised by the Nidderdale League as as being of a high standard and the Village Hall facilities are excellent. Cricket is very much a community and social occasion which brings people of all ages (from U7's to 80 plus)
Apart from the cricket itself, the Cricket Club supports events for the wider community.
